WHY ZERO-WASTE PATTERN CUTTING?

Of the 400 billion m2 of textiles produced annually, over 60 billion m2 (15%!) is thrown away. Most of the fashion industry treats pre-consumer waste as a management problem. This primarily concerns secondary solutions to this environmental issue, such as recycling. Instead, Free Prisoner sees excess fabric production as a design problem. By investing time and expertise into the creation of zero-waste patterns, the amount of debris produced during the design process is brought to a minimum, less than 1%!
